Aberdeen Association for Improving the Condition of the Poor
The Agency was inaugurated at a public meeting on 10th March, 1870 as Aberdeen Association for Improving the Condition of the Poor.

Cards Issued For Strangers Begging Round the Doors
Cards were issued to the public to pass on to strangers begging round the doors, directing them to the Association's office.

A Day Nursery for Under Fives
A day nursery for under fives was established in East North Street to prevent neglect; operated from 5:30 am to 6:30 pm while mothers worked at cleaning or washing jobs.

Prisoners Aid Society was Established
Prisoners Aid Society was established, interested in the reformative aspects of the treatment of prisoners, and giving support and aid after discharge.

Penny Banks Established in Aberdeen
Penny banks established in various sections of Aberdeen to encourage the habit of saving; administered by the Association until 1895, when taken over by Aberdeen Savings Bank.

Handbook of the Charities of Aberdeen
A Handbook of the Charities of Aberdeen was compiled, and published annually as part of the Aberdeen Almanac.

House Provided for Women Discharged from Prison
A house was rented for women on their discharge from prison, providing temporary accommodation and support until permanent arrangements were made.

Firelighter Workshop Moved to Rogers Walk
The firelighter workshop was moved from Spring Garden to larger premises in Rogers Walk.

After consultation with OSCR (Office of Scottish Charity Regulator) and major stakeholders, Voluntary Service Aberdeen formally changes its operating name to VSA on 1st April
